A Sweet Pregnancy Announcement Session | Grand Rapids, Michigan Photographer
Some sessions are exciting from the second they hit my calendar, and this was definitely one of them.
Brad and Sarah wanted to document such a sweet season of life: the two of them, their pup, and the little baby they’re getting ready to welcome. We kept everything simple and relaxed, spending the evening outside with their ultrasound photos, a blanket, a few flowers, and plenty of room to just be themselves.
And honestly, that’s always my favorite way to photograph moments like this.
There’s no need for a pregnancy announcement session to feel overly posed or elaborate. Some of my favorite images from this evening are the little in-between moments — walking through the grass together, laughing on the blanket, their dog wandering into the frame, and the two of them looking at each other knowing their lives are about to change in the very best way.
This session was also a little extra special for me because I’ve known Sarah since I was 12. Getting to photograph someone I’ve known for so many years as she steps into this completely new chapter of life was pretty surreal. I’m SO incredibly excited for Brad + Sarah, and I already know they are going to be the best parents. 🤍
I also loved how they chose to include their dog in the session. Your photos don’t have to look perfectly polished to be meaningful — bring the dog, bring something sentimental, bring your ultrasound photos, and let the session actually feel like your life right now. Those are usually the images that end up meaning the most years from now.
Pregnancy announcements are such a short little chapter between finding out your family is growing and everything that comes next. Whether you want to use the photos to officially share the news or simply have something that documents this season for yourselves, it’s one of those milestones that is so worth photographing.
And Brad + Sarah… I seriously cannot wait to watch this next chapter unfold. Baby is already very, very loved. 🤍
