Unfiltered and Unforgettable: Nikki Glaser Live at Soaring Eagle

Sharp, fearless, and hilariously honest—Nikki Glaser lit up the stage during her Alive and Unwell tour stop at Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort in Mount Pleasant, MI. And let me tell you: the road to this show was almost as chaotic as one of her stand-up sets.

About 25 minutes from the venue, my night took an unexpected detour—literally. I got a flat tire on a back road in the middle of nowhere. With time slipping away and panic bubbling up, I called in a favor from family friends who live in the area. Like absolute heroes, they swooped in and got me to the show just in time. Meanwhile, my car sat on the side of the road waiting for my mom (yes—my mom!) to drive over an hour to meet the tow truck. MVP status: confirmed.

Thankfully, laughter heals all—and this night delivered. Nikki was absolutely on fire, but the show’s brilliance didn’t start with her entrance. Her openers, Esther Povitsky and Sean O’Connor, set the tone perfectly. Esther’s deadpan charm and painfully funny honesty had the audience laughing in disbelief, and Sean’s laid-back storytelling packed some sneak-attack punchlines that caught everyone off guard. They were the perfect warm-up to the main event.

Once Nikki took the stage, it was full throttle. Her humor was unfiltered and fearless, but always disarmingly real. Photographing her in motion—mid-story, mid-eye-roll, mid-punchline—was pure gold. The energy in the room was electric, and the lighting and vibe matched the mood perfectly.

So, flat tire drama aside, it was absolutely worth it. Big thanks to Nikki, her team, Esther, Sean, Soaring Eagle, my impromptu rescue squad, and of course—Mom. Still laughing, still grateful, and definitely still getting that tire replaced.
